Wood Thilsted (WT) announces its appointment for the preliminary foundation designs of the BC-Wind project as the FEED and Detailed Design WTG foundation designer.

Ocean Winds, the offshore wind energy-focused international company formed by ENGIE and EDPR, is developing the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. With the potential to generate 500 MW of energy from up to 34 turbines, situated 23 km from Poland's shoreline, BC-Wind aligns with Poland's renewed focus on expanding offshore wind capacity in the Baltic Sea.

This project signifies a milestone for Poland's emerging offshore wind market and the industry at large. As one of the pioneering ventures in Poland's offshore wind sector, it plays a vital role in the country's transition toward sustainable energy sources. Wood Thilsted's involvement underscores its commitment to building local capacity, nurturing in-country teams, and collaborating with suppliers to develop relevant supply chains.

Having previously led Foundations Concept design, WT's extensive experience and adeptness in addressing engineering constraints made it the ideal choice for BC-Wind's shift to detailed foundation design, focusing on a jacket design solution.

WT's expertise is pivotal, especially considering the engineering challenges posed by the project. Complex ground conditions, including unique soil deposits from glaciers, Baltic Sea corrosion, and ice loading, highlight WT's proven track record in overcoming technical hurdles.
