Offshore Wind farms in France

France has 46 offshore wind farm projects of which 2 currently operating, 2 where construction has progressed enough to connect the turbines and generate electricity, 3 are in the build phase, and 3 are either consented or have applied for consent. on project 'Dunkerque' on Friday, 01 December 2023, the following was announced: 'Update July 2023: According to Dunkerque's website, public consultation and dialogue with stakeholders is still ongoing.

Update May 2023: consultation and surveys have taken longer than expected leading to a two-year delay in delivery of the impact study. This study should be submitted during the first half of 2023. A public inquiry will follow, which will allow whether or not to issue a construction and operating permit from 2024.

Update December 2023: delayed to 2023.

Update September 2022: consent application submission expected late 2022. Public Inquiry expected 2023. Approvals in H1 2024.

Update January 2022: A study of the impact of the project on the environment is currently being drafted. It will be submitted in particular to the opinion of the environmental authority within the framework of the instruction of the applications for authorization of the project, as well as to the public at the time of the public inquiry. Anticipate submission to Prefecture in 2022.

Update 10th May 2021: EMD and RTE plan to submit their authorization applications in the second half of 2021.
Update July 2020: The authorization requests would be filed between mid and end 2021.
The consent phase (submission and approval) expected 2020-2022. Due to COVID-19 and delays to the CDNP debate in early 2020, several months of delay could be expected.'
