Jovita Beeston, ScottishPower Renewables’ pioneering apprentice, has made a significant leap, securing a permanent role as a balance of plant technician at the esteemed East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm.

Completing her three-year apprenticeship at the £2.5 billion windfarm, Jovita, hailing from Acle, embarked on her new permanent position after comprehensive training at East Coast College and hands-on experience, including offshore work on the 102-turbine windfarm situated 30 miles off the Suffolk coast.

With a background in engineering studies and prior practical experience in the offshore wind sector, Jovita was inspired to join the ScottishPower Renewables program.

As an integral part of the offshore technical team, Jovita and her colleagues manage the mechanical and electrical operations, ensuring optimal electricity generation from the windfarm.

Reflecting on her journey, Jovita shared, “Joining the team at East Anglia ONE has been incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about the clean energy production—equivalent to powering over 630,000 homes—but also about creating opportunities and encouraging other women to be part of this remarkable green industry.”

Charlie Jordan, Chief Executive of ScottishPower Renewables, commended Jovita’s progress, stating, “Jovita is a testament to the success of our apprenticeship program. Her journey from apprentice to technician is inspiring and underscores her dedication to powering a sustainable future.”
